Assemblyman Lancman
and Assembly Mental Health Committee Chair Peter Rivera met with mental
health experts and military veterans at St. John’s Center for
Psychological Services to push for the passage of Assemblyman Rivera’s
bill to require insurers to cover Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The
press conference also highlighted the free mental health services St.
John’s provides to soldiers and their families, which are partially
funded by a grant from Assemblyman Lancman. The event was covered in

Taking on Iran
Assemblyman Lancman
and many local leaders protested Iranian President
Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad in front of the United
Nations. Lancman denounced Ahmadinejad for his support of international
terrorism and for his continued nuclear program. As the
New York Daily News notes, the Iran issue is personal for
Assemblyman Lancman since his wife was forced to flee Iran because of
the Islamic Revolution.
Winning the Budget
Battle
During the special
legislative session Assemblyman Lancman worked to enact budget savings
while protecting education and health programs. Assemblyman Lancman’s
warnings against making rash budget cuts helped frame the debate, making
the case for a responsible solution in the Albany Times Union and on

Lancman Joins Street
Fair
Assemblyman Lancman participated in Faith Fest 2008, an annual street
fair in Richmond Hill. The exhilarating event featured lively steel
drum performances. In addition, city representatives, like those from
the mobile health unit, worked the crowd to raise awareness of services
available to the community.
Lancman Attends Indian Festival
Assemblyman Lancman
attended a festival hosted by Kerala Samajan of Greater New York in
celebration Onam, the state holiday for Kerala, India, at an area
school. The celebration featured traditional songs, dances and
performances, and was attended by several hundred Queens residents.
Lancman Accepts Richmond Hill Award
At the Richmond Hill
Block Association’s 35th Annual Fair Assemblyman Lancman
received an award from the Association to thank him for his work on
behalf of the community. The RBHA performs many important services
including, community programs for local children.
